About

I’m Stephen Currie, a passionate User Experience Designer based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

I specialise in User Experience and User Interface design with a keen interest in workshop facilitation. I love helping individuals and companies understand their customers' needs through in-depth user research. Then using these findings to design and ideate delightful experiences.

I am a graduate of the University of Ulster with over 10+ years commercial experience. In 2016 I self financed independent study and received accreditation in User Experience Design through CareerFoundry based in Berlin. I have worked as a solo designer and played a key role in full collaborative design and development teams alike.

I have training in workshop facilitation with the Nielson Norman Group NN/g and have lead on site UX workshops for large global companies in Washington DC, London and Dublin throughout my career.

My Process

Research & Discovery

Research & Discovery

To fully understand your business goals, user needs and their frustrations we must expose information early in the design process by researching and discovering how customers think and use your products.

This envolves:

  • UX Workshops
  • User Interviews
  • User Surveys
  • Behavioural Tracking
  • Analytics Review
  • Content Audits
  • Competitive Analysis

Analysis & Define

Once we have a clear understanding of who your users are, we can then identify their requirements. We must analyse their behaviour and present their user stories to stakeholders to allow us to focus on content and features needed to fulfil their goals and to organise information to provide the best possible experience early in the process.

To understand the user I establish the following:

  • User Personas
  • User Experience Maps
  • Task Flows
  • Behavioural Tracking
  • Analytics Review
  • Content Audits
  • Competitive Analysis
Design & Ideation

Design & Ideation

To solve user problems and fulfil their needs we do this by ideating low fidelity solutions. Ideas are best generated as wireframes so we can structure information and focus on content with the least amount of risk. This allows for rapid prototyping before high fidelity concepts are created. These prototypes are used as part of an iterative feedback process to define, and refine the ideal solution.

  • Collaborative Design Workshops
  • Sketching
  • Wireframing
  • Low fidelity Protoypes
  • High Fidelity Concepts
  • HTML Responsive Prototypes
